Protein Krispies (Recipe)
Protein krispies…delicious, nutritious, and easy to make!
It is very common for us in the western diet to have far too little protein for what our bodies need. We tend to fill up on carbohydrate heavy meals such as pasta, baguettes and pizza and not making room for protein.
Simply put, protein’s job in our body is for growth and repair. It is important when playing basketball, that we provide our bodies, muscles namely, the fuel that it needs to repair and recover after a tough training session or an intense match!
These protein krispies are the perfect snack to have in your bag, to eat when you come off the court – instantly giving you a protein source. Not only do you they give you some protein from the peanut butter, but you’ll also get an abundance in the added protein powder too. It’s a sustainable source of energy too – what’s not to love?
Ingredients
3 tablespoons of peanut butter (no added sugar)
3 tablespoons of maple syrup
3 scoops of vanilla protein powder (you can use other flavours too)
3 large handfuls of rice krispies
(Optional: Melted dark chocolate for drizzling over the top)
Instructions
Melt the peanut butter and maple syrup in a pan until you get a paste
Remove from the heat
Scoop the protein powder into the paste and mix until you get a dough
Mix in the rice krispies
Flatten the mixture into a tray and pop into the freezer for 30 minutes
Chop into squares and enjoy!
